Chronic fatigue : the body no longer has the energy to function.
The special case of Karolina
For Karolina, the situation worsened over several months. Her weight gradually decreased until she reached 22 kilos. At that point, her body had no more reserves. Her muscles had atrophied. Her vital organs were deprived of support. Her immune system no longer responded.
The doctors who examined her detected severe malnutrition. Muscle wasting was widespread. She suffered from multiple deficiencies. Weighing only 22 kilos, her body could no longer withstand even the slightest exertion.

Social media is full of accounts promoting radical diets. Fruitarianism, raw food, extreme fasting, intensive detoxification… These practices are presented as paths to health, purity, and spiritual awakening.
The images are seductive: slender bodies, colorful dishes, enthusiastic testimonials. Those who fail or become ill are nowhere to be seen. The reality of the deficiencies, the fatigue, and the hospitalizations remains invisible.
The trap of community validation
Once she embarked on this path, Karolina likely found an online community that validated her decisions. Other fruitarians, other followers, who shared her same beliefs and reinforced her conviction that she was on the right track.
This echo chamber effect is dangerous. It prevents us from distancing ourselves, questioning, and listening to the warning signals our bodies send us. The community validates it, so everything is okay.
