Chapter 5: The Dark Secret

Adam and Daniel followed the guardian into the castle.

Inside, they discovered hundreds of old paintings and mysterious books.

The guardian explained that the kingdom had once been full of life and happiness.

However, a powerful magician had stolen the kingdom's magical crystal, causing everyone to disappear.

The crystal was hidden inside the Black Tower, guarded by mysterious creatures.

"Without the crystal, the kingdom will remain forgotten forever," the guardian explained.

Adam knew that he had to help.

He looked at Daniel and said:

"We have come too far to give up now."

The two friends prepared themselves for their most dangerous mission.

My Husband Said The Old Storage Unit Was Empty — Then I Found Out He Paid Rent On It For 14 Years My husband and I had been married for almost fifteen years when I accidentally discovered a monthly charge on our bank statement. It wasn’t a huge amount. Just $87 every month. But it had been there for years. When I asked him about it, he barely looked up from his phone. “Oh, that’s an old storage unit,” he said casually. “It’s empty. I’ve just been meaning to cancel it.” That answer should have satisfied me. Instead, it made me suspicious. Because if it was truly empty, why keep paying for it for fourteen years? A few weeks later, the charge appeared again. This time, I couldn’t let it go. While my husband was away on a business trip, I searched through old paperwork and eventually found the storage facility’s address and unit number. The place was on the outskirts of town. Rows and rows of metal doors stretched across the property. When the manager checked the records, he smiled and said: “Wow. Unit 214. Your husband has had that one for a very long time.” My stomach tightened. The manager unlocked the gate and pointed me in the right direction. The entire walk there felt surreal. I kept telling myself it was probably old furniture. Maybe boxes from college. Maybe things he forgot about years ago. But deep down, I knew that wasn’t why he had hidden it. When I finally reached the unit, my hands were shaking. The lock looked old. Used. Not abandoned. I stared at it for several seconds before sliding the key inside. The metal door rattled loudly as I slowly pulled it upward. At first, I couldn’t process what I was looking at. Then my eyes adjusted. And the moment I realized what was inside… I nearly lost consciousness. See less
