My husband and his mistress offered $150,000 for my newborn twins. Before his smug family, I signed and vanished with my babies that night—unaware I had spent six months preparing to completely destroy their plan.

Part 1: The Signature

"Take two hundred thousand dollars, sign the divorce papers, and give me the twins."

Those were Weston Calloway's first words, three days after I delivered our sons.

I sat in a hospital wheelchair, holding Ezra and August. My incision still burned. A nurse had just finished walking me through wound care when Weston walked in.

His mistress, Sienna, trailed behind him in white. His parents came next, then a wall of relatives. They circled me — and not one of them asked about the babies.

Weston set a folder on the table.

"You surrender full custody, disappear, and never contact us again," he said.

My mother-in-law, Deborah, crossed her arms. "The boys need the Calloway name. Not a bitter mother who'll turn them against their father."

They expected tears. I read every page instead.

The agreement offered two hundred thousand for custody. Buried inside was a clause blocking me from ever investigating accounts tied to the Calloway family businesses.

This wasn't a family settlement. It was a corporate buyout wearing a settlement's clothes.

I looked at Weston. "You're sure about this?"

"Never been more sure."

I glanced at the security camera. The nurse. The social worker. The relatives — every one of them a witness.

Then I signed.

Before leaving, Deborah leaned in close. "We'll collect the babies tomorrow morning."

I said nothing.
