Why Electrical Safety Deserves an Annual Check
Electrical equipment generally becomes part of the background of our lives.
We plug something in and expect it to work.
Over time, however, cords can become damaged, outlets can loosen, extension cords can be overloaded, and appliances can deteriorate.
Families also change.
A child may become old enough to start using electronic devices independently. A home office may acquire several new pieces of equipment. Someone might install a space heater, freezer, workshop tool, or additional entertainment system.

Start With the Easiest Things to See
You don't need to begin by opening an electrical panel or removing an outlet cover.
Start with what is visible.

A cord with exposed wires, severe cracking, melted insulation, scorch marks, or loose components should not be ignored.
