There is already an official forecast that can help estimate the possible pension increase in January 2027. The latest forecast from the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) predicts an annual inflation rate of 2.3% for 2027. However, this does not mean that the pension increase will definitely be the same. Here is what the current forecast could mean for pensions of different amounts.
Economic Forecast
The Hungarian National Bank's Inflation Report, published in June 2026, forecasts average annual inflation of 2.3% for 2027. The MNB also expects inflation to be 1.8% in 2026 and 3% in 2028.
This is particularly important for pensioners because, under Hungarian law, the January pension increase is closely linked to the expected inflation rate for that year.
