3. White Vinegar for Suitable Surfaces
White vinegar is frequently used for household cleaning because its acidity can help dissolve mineral deposits and certain types of residue. However, vinegar should only be used on surfaces that can tolerate acidic cleaners.
For ceramic or porcelain tiles with compatible grout, diluted vinegar may sometimes help remove surface deposits. Apply it sparingly, scrub gently, and then rinse the area thoroughly.
Do not use vinegar on acid-sensitive natural stones such as marble, limestone, travertine, or similar materials. The acid can permanently dull or etch these surfaces.
Should You Mix Vinegar and Baking Soda?
Although household cleaning tips often recommend using vinegar and baking soda together, mixing them causes an acid-base reaction that produces bubbles. The fizzing may help loosen dirt mechanically, but the two ingredients also largely neutralize each other.
For more predictable cleaning results, it is generally better to use baking soda separately as a scrubbing paste or use vinegar on compatible surfaces, rather than relying on the mixture.
